Responsible Gambling
Responsible gambling means keeping betting to an affordable pastime, with limits you set in advance and a clear route to stop. This page explains the tools that exist, what changes when a bookmaker is not part of GamStop, and where to get help in Great Britain. Last fact-checked 1 October 2026.
Betting Not On Gamstop reviews betting sites that operate outside GamStop. That is a choice with real consequences, so we think the protections deserve more space than the offers. Adults aged 18 and over only.
Commercial disclosure and how we approach this
The publisher may earn commission if you join an operator through links on this site. Commission does not decide ranking or what we say about a bookmaker's risks. We have researched and reviewed public information; we have not claimed to deposit, bet or withdraw with any operator. Read more on who we are and our terms and conditions.
What GamStop does, and what it does not
GamStop is the free national self-exclusion scheme for online gambling licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC). Register for a period of six months, one year or five years and every participating licensed operator must block your access and stop marketing to you. It is run for Great Britain's licensed market, so its reach is defined by licensing, not by whether a site accepts British customers.
A site not on GamStop is usually licensed overseas. Accepting British customers is not the same as being authorised by the UKGC to serve them. Overseas licences vary in standards, complaint routes and enforcement, and the UKGC does not regulate those operators. If you have registered with GamStop, signing up elsewhere to get around it undermines a protection you chose for a reason. If that describes you, please stop and read the support section below.
Who should avoid non GamStop betting altogether
- Anyone currently self-excluded through GamStop, or who has recently ended an exclusion.
- Anyone chasing losses, betting money needed for bills, or borrowing to gamble.
- Anyone who finds it hard to stop once they start, or who hides betting from people close to them.
- Anyone under 18.
Gambling is not a source of income and not a fix for money worries. Outcomes are never guaranteed.
Setting limits that actually work
- Decide a monthly betting budget from spare money, before you open any account.
- Use deposit limits (daily, weekly or monthly) if the site offers them, and check that they apply immediately when you tighten them.
- Set loss limits and session reminders where available.
- Use a time-out or self-exclusion on the site itself if you need a break. Confirm how long it lasts and how it is reversed.
- Keep betting money separate from everyday accounts, and avoid saving cards for instant top-ups.
Many offshore sites advertise these tools, but availability and strength differ. Check the account settings and the terms before depositing, and do not assume they match UK standards.
Bonuses and the pressure to bet more
Large headline offers can push you to stake more than planned. Before accepting any, check wagering requirements, minimum qualifying odds (for example 1/1 or evens), expiry dates, maximum bet while a bonus is active, and cashout limits. A bonus with conditions you cannot comfortably meet is better declined. Note that some sites list offers in euros or dollars, so you may face currency conversion on a GBP account.
Offers we list, with the risks beside them
The offers below are advertised by the operators and are not confirmed by us. Terms can change, so read them on the bookmaker's own page.
| Operator | Advertised offer | What to check before accepting |
|---|---|---|
| Tenobet | Sports package: 300% up to €3,000 | Euro-denominated, so conversion may apply; wagering and odds conditions |
| Trixino | 325% up to €1,500 | Currency conversion; wagering on the bonus and deposit |
| Betninja | €1,000 + 100 Free Spins | Mixes casino spins with betting; check wallet sharing |
| BetBluff | 100% up to £150 bonus | Pounds sterling, but wagering, expiry and cashout limits still apply |
A big percentage match increases the amount you must turn over. For example, a £100 deposit with a 100% bonus and 10x wagering on deposit plus bonus would need £2,000 in bets. Those figures are illustrative only, not any operator's terms.
Why withdrawal speed is a protection issue
Fast payouts help you keep control, because money is not left sitting in an account to be re-staked. Be wary of any site that encourages reversing a withdrawal. Verify, from the terms, the processing times, withdrawal limits, fees and whether identity checks (KYC) or source-of-funds checks are required. Verification is normal and can delay a first payout. We cannot guarantee any withdrawal, and advertised speeds are not tested results.
If a payout is delayed or refused, keep screenshots and emails, follow the operator's complaints procedure, and then look for the licensing body named in its footer. Outside the UKGC, your options for dispute resolution may be limited.
Combined casino and sportsbook wallets
Several sites run casino and sportsbook from one balance. That makes it easy to move from a football bet to slots without noticing. If you share a wallet, set limits across the whole account and consider whether a single balance suits you. Our non GamStop casinos guide covers the casino side in more depth.
Warning signs and tools to block access
- Betting more than planned, or for longer than planned.
- Needing to bet larger amounts for the same excitement.
- Irritability, secrecy or lying about gambling.
- Using winnings only to keep betting.
Gambling blocking software can stop sites and apps on your devices. Bank blocks on gambling transactions are offered by many UK banks; ask yours. These work best alongside GamStop, not instead of it.

A sensible next step
If you are comfortable with the risks, set your limits first, read the full terms of any operator, and start with a small deposit you could afford to lose. If any of this felt uncomfortably familiar, pause and speak to GamCare. Questions about this site can go through our contact page.
